Yankees: INF Rougned Odor was traded Tuesday from the Rangers to the Yankees for minor league OFs Antonio Cabello and Josh Stowers. The 27-yearold Odor didn’t make the Rangers’ opening day roster and was designated for assignment Thursday. He’s a left-handed hitter, and the Yankees have a mostly right-handed lineup. Odor is a second baseman but also played third at spring training. He has two guaranteed seasons at $12 million each remaining as part of a six-year, $49.5 million contract. The deal includes a $13.5 million team option for 2023 with a $3 million buyout. The Rangers will pay the Yankees cash to cover most of what Odor is owed. Odor has a .237 career average with 146 HRs and 458 RBIs in seven major league seasons.

Nationals: Juan Soto drove in the winning run with a single on a 3-0 pitch in the bottom of the ninth, lifting the coronavirus-depleted Nationals to a 6-5 comeback victory over the visiting Braves after waiting five days to start their season. Because of a COVID19 outbreak — four players tested positive; seven were forced into quarantine after potentially being exposed — the Nats’ first four scheduled games were scrapped. Ahead of the game, the Nats announced that tarting pitchers Patrick Corbin and Jon Lester, starting Cs Yan Gomes and Alex Avila, 1B Josh Bell, INFs Josh Harrison and Jordy Mercer, OF Kyle Schwarber and reliever Brad Hand were all on the IL, though none with a specified injury.

Tigers: Akil Baddoo added another big hit in this charmed start to his big league career, lining an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th to give the host Tigers a 4-3 victory over the Twins.

Baddoo made his debut Sunday and homered on the first pitch thrown to him. Then he hit a grand slam in a 15-6 loss to the Twins on Monday. The rookie entered Tuesday’s game as a pinch-runner, stayed in to the play the outfield and ended it with a hit to right off Hansel Robles (0-1). The 22-year-old Baddoo was taken by the Tigers from the Twins’ in December in the Rule 5 draft of players left off 40-man rosters.

Astros: Carlos Correa hit a tiebreaking, two-run HR in the ninth and the Astros split a short series against the AL West rival Angels with a 4-2 win. Kyle Tucker and Aledmys Díaz hit backto-back HRs in the second for the Astros, who went an impressive 5-1 on their six-game road trip to start the season amid the incessant booing and jeering they’ll hear indefinitely as fans react to their sign-stealing scandal in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Angels fans again serenaded the Astros veterans with choruses of boos, showing most baseball fans’ anger over team’s sign-stealing scandal in 2017 and 2018. Although nobody threw a trash can onto the Angel Stadium field as they did twice Monday night, the day crowd included a fan in a full-size Oscar the Grouch costume.

Extra innings: The Braves have acquired INF Orlando Arcia from the Brewers in exchange for RHPs Chad Sobotka and Patrick Weigel in the deal. Arcia, 26, had spent all six of his major league seasons with the Brewers. He has a career .244 batting average with 42 HRs, 180 RBI and 39 stolen bases. He had signed a one-year, $2 million deal with the Brewers in December . ... The Rays placed OF Kevin Kiermaier on the 10-day IL with a left quadriceps strain.
