The Weeknd tops iHeartRadi­o nods

The Weeknd, Megan Thee Stallion and Roddy Ricch are among the top nominees for the iHeartRadi­o Music Awards.

The Weeknd’s eight nomination­s include male artist of the year, competing with Ricch, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber and Post Malone, and song of the year for “Blinding Lights.”

Ricch and Megan Thee Stallion earned seven nods each, including hip-hop artist of the year. Also competing in the category are DaBaby, Lil Baby and Pop Smoke.

Megan Thee Stallion is a contender for female artist of the year, alongside Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa and

Taylor Swift, according to Wednesday’s announceme­nt for the May 27 awards airing on Fox.

Other song of the year nominees are Malone’s “Circles”; Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now”; “Rockstar” from DaBaby and featuring Ricch; and Styles’ “Watermelon Sugar.”

Nominees for Latin pop or reggaeton artist of the year are Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Karol G, Maluma and Ozuna. Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Maren Morris and Thomas Rhett are country artist of the year contenders. BTS, Dan + Shay, Jonas Brothers, Maroon 5 and twenty one pilots are the nominees for best duo or group.

Hanna diagnosed with dementia: Celebrity zookeeper and animal TV show host Jack Hanna has been diagnosed with dementia and will retire from public life, his family said. In a news release Wednesday, his family added that it’s believed he now has Alzheimer’s disease, which has quickly progressed in the last few months.

Hanna, 74, is known for his live animal demonstrat­ions on talk shows hosted by Johnny Carson, David Letterman and James Corden. Hanna, who always wore khakis on every TV appearance and in photos, hosted the popular syndicated show “Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures” from 1993 to 2008. He also hosted “Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild,” which started in 2007, and “Jack Hanna’s Wild Countdown” until last year.

Hilton attends bill signing: Paris Hilton returned to Salt Lake City on Tuesday for a ceremonial bill signing for a law that regulates treatment centers for troubled teens in Utah.

The legislatio­n for facilities that treat teens with behavioral and mental health issues gained final approval in the Legislatur­e in March, about a month after Hilton gave emotional testimony in support of the bill.

Gov. Spencer Cox signed the bill last month but held a ceremonial signing with Hilton on Tuesday.

The socialite and reality TV star also spoke about the abuse in the documentar­y “This is Paris,” which was released in September.

West doc lands at Netflix: A documentar­y series spanning over two decades of footage and home videos of Kanye West’s life and work has landed at Netflix. The series, which does not yet have a title, is said to include never-before-seen footage of West and will cover his career in music and fashion, his failed presidenti­al bid and the death of his mother, Donda West. The project is expected to be released this year.
