Signing bonuses? Just pay restaurant workers more

Re: South Florida restaurants so desperate for workers they’re offering up to $400 ‘signing bonuses’

Perhaps rather than paying cash bonuses, restaurant owners would want to consider paying their service people more per hour, say at least $1.25 more, and continue that, so their people won’t be poached by others. When was the last time they were given a raise as a starting salary?

In addition, restaurants are not yet back at full capacity, which affects employees’ tips, too.
