Patterson leads Deerfield Beach to district crown
Jaziun Patterson and Deerfield Beach would not be denied a sixth straight district championship.
The Bucks running back racked up 179 yards and three scores on 13 carries as Deerfield Beach beat Boca Raton, 40-0, to claim the District 13-8A crown.

Norcius completed 26-of-32 passes for 352 yards and four touchdowns as Dillard beat Plantation, 41-40.
Ahmad Haston | Palm Beach Central
The junior quarterback threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns in a come-from-behind 17-14 victory over Wellington for the Wellington Cup and the District 7-8A title.
Collin Hurst | Western
Hurst completed 11-of-15 passes for 303 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Wildcats beat West Broward, 63-0.
Mark Fletcher | American Heritage
Fletcher, a junior running back, racked up 106 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries as the Patriots beat Stranahan, 35-0, to seal the District 14-5A title.
Reece Larson | Wellington
The senior wide receiver returned a punt 88 yards for a score in a 17-14 loss to Palm Beach Central.
Dylan Rizk | Cardinal Gibbons
Rizk completed 8-of-12 passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns as the Chiefs beat Flanagan, 44-8.
Will Rimes | Seminole Ridge
The senior quarterback carried nine times for 80 yards and a score for the Hawks in a 31-21 victory over Dwyer. He also passed for 47 yards.
Davion Gause | Chaminade-Madonna
Gause finished the regular season with 18 carries for 134 yards and a score as the Lions handed St. Petersburg Lakewood its first loss of the year.
Brand Campbell | Palm Beach Gardens
The junior quarterback completed 14-of22 passes for 228 yards and three scores in the Gators’ 28-21 win over Jupiter.
Dylan Knaebel | Coral Glades
Knaebel completed 10-of-14 passes for 217 yards and five touchdowns. He ran for another score as the Jaguars beat Coral Springs Charter, 62-15.
Nick Workman | Glades Central
The junior running back had 14 rushes for 155 yards and a score in a 32-13 victory over Miami Monsignor Pace.
Jermaine Vaughn | Somerset Academy
Vaughn racked up a team-leading 14 tackles with three tackles for loss and a sack as Somerset Academy beat Miami True North Classical Academy, 20-14.
Dylan Wilkins | Glades Day
The senior quarterback was 12 of 17 for 182 yards and two touchdowns for the Gators in a 47-6 win over Palm Beach Christian Prep.
Zion Turner | St. Thomas Aquinas
Turner completed 8-of-9 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown and added a 12-yard touchdown run as the Raiders beat Nova, 49-7.
Chauncey Bowens | Benjamin
The sophomore running back carried 18 times for 113 yards and a score in a 35-27 victory over Jensen Beach.
Matthew Wilson | Stoneman Douglas
Wilson had 18 carries for 146 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 37-0 win over Coral Springs.
Dmitry Peters | Forest Hill
The senior athlete had 11 carries for 56 yards and a score in a 42-0 win over Spanish River. He also had an extra-point conversion along with five tackles on defense.
Desmond Reid | Miramar
Reid had two carries for 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Patriots’ win over Everglades. He added a 30-yard touchdown catch.
Alex Johnson | Lake Worth
The junior running back had six carries for 84 yards and a touchdown in a 22-20 win over Santaluces. He also had six tackles on defense.
Lawaye McCoy | Avant Garde Academy
McCoy, a sophomore wide receiver, had 162 receiving yards and three touchdowns on seven catches in the Sharks’ win over Pine Crest.
Jaquise Wright | South Broward
Wright had 115 rushing yards and a score in the Bulldogs’ 29-7 win over McArthur.
Jorris Shephard | Jupiter Christian
The eighth grade quarterback completed 12-of15 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 40-27 victory over Ocoee Legacy Charter.
Dontae Gentles | Piper
Gentles completed 4-of-7 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns in Piper’s 40-12 win over Pembroke Pines Charter.
Reggie Heywood | Calvary Christian
Heywood notched his sixth game with more than 100 rushing yards, racking up 122 yards and two touchdowns against Clearwater Central Catholic. He also had four catches for 48 yards, but the Eagles lost.
Devaughn Mortimer | Dillard
Mortimer had 11 catches for 145 yards and two scores in the Panthers’ win over Plantation.
Harlem Howard | Deerfield Beach
Howard, a junior defensive back, picked off a pass and returned it 23 yards to help lead the Bucks to a win over Boca Raton.
Juan Dominguez | Palm Beach Central
The senior kicker booted a career-long, 35-yard game-winning field goal with five minutes remaining to secure Palm Beach Central’s win.
Brennen Taranto | Western
Taranto, a senior wide receiver, had three catches for 97 yards and a score in the Wildcats’ win. He also had two carries for 45 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground.
Ty Jackson | Seminole Ridge
The freshman defensive back had eight tackles and a pick-six for the Hawks in their win.
Jaeden Kinlock | American Heritage
Kinlockled the Patriots with 10 tackles and three tackles for loss in the Patriots’ win over Stranahan. He also had two sacks and an interception.
Casey Felton | Glades Central
The junior defensive end contributed 10 tackles, four tackles for losses, and a sack in the Raiders’ win.
Jesse Anderson | Cardinal Gibbons
Anderson, a junior athlete, had four catches for 38 yards and a score. He also had an interception on defense.
Brandon Powell | Palm Beach Gardens
The senior middle linebacker had 15 tackles, four tackles for losses and a forced fumble in the Gators’ win.
Kenyatta Jackson Jr. | Chaminade-Madonna
Jackson, an Ohio State commit, racked up six tackles and a team-best four sacks as the Lions held Lakewood to six points.
Luca Foerch | Plantation
Foerch completed 15-of-20 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns, but the Colonels fell to Dillard.
Jyron Hughley | Glades Day
The eighth grade receiver caught three passes for 23 yards and two touchdowns in Glades Day’s win.
Travis Delaney Jr. | Miramar
Delaney tossed three touchdowns in Miramar’s win over Everglades.

The sophomore quarterback completed 11-of19 passes for 190 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Buccaneers to a come-from-behind win.
Joshua Guerin | Coral Glades
Guerin had five catches for 81 yards and three touchdowns in Coral Glades’ victory.
Jerrius Chavers | Forest Hill
The junior athlete carried the ball eight times for 42 yards and two touchdowns in the Falcons’ win. He also had two 2-point conversions and four tackles on defense.
Jordan Lyle | St. Thomas Aquinas
Lyle had five carries for 43 yards and a score in a win over Nova. He added a 40-yard touchdown catch, as well.
Brian LaFrance | Jupiter Christian
The senior wide receiver had six catches for 178 yards and two scores in the Eagles’ win. He also added a 77-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Kareem Carswell | South Broward
Carswell had 100 rushing yards and 63 receiving yards in the Bulldogs’ victory. He had one score in the win.
Jordan Clemons | Park Vista
The junior running back contributed 122 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in a 35-0 victory over John I. Leonard.
Traejon Roberts | Stoneman Douglas
Roberts, a junior defensive back, had a 96-yard interception return in the Eagles’ win.

The senior quarterback completed 7-of-8 passes for 100 yards and four touchdowns in one half of action in a 55-0 win over Palm Glades Prep.

The junior running back had 19 carries for 159 yards and three touchdowns in a 46-35 victory
