Rolling Loud Miami loses Kanye West, adds Kid Cudi to fill in at Hard Rock
Rap superstar Kanye West, also known as Ye, has canceled his scheduled appearance at this weekend’s Rolling Loud Miami 2022 concert set for Hard Rock Stadium, organizers announced Sunday.
No reason was immediately given.
“We were looking forward to Ye headlining Rolling Loud Miami 2022,” Rolling Loud co-founders Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler wrote in a statement they circulated. “We spent months working with him and his team on the performance. Unfortunately, Ye has decided that he will no longer be performing.”
Rapper Kid Cudi has been booked as a replacement, the organizers said via Twitter.
“Due to circumstances outside of our control, Ye will no longer be performing at Rolling Loud Miami 2022. Please welcome @KiDCuDi!” the organizers’ the tweet said.
“Rager boy incoming!” Cudi, confirmed on Twitter.
The news came Sunday afternoon and quickly spread among the music sites of Rolling Stone, Billboard, Complex, Pitchfork and others.
According to Billboard, the decision by West, 45, not to perform came after a social media report that he delayed the release of his 10th studio album, Donda, until August.
Born as Scott Mescudi, Kid Cudi, 35, has been in the music industry
for more than 10 years, and has six solo and two collaborative albums among his work.
Cudi’s debut album “Man on the Moon: The End of Day” was released in 2009.
