Singleton pleased with his visit

Standout wide receiver prospect Daylon Singleton was one of more than 100 prospects who flocked to Coral Gables for the Hurricanes’ Junior Day on March 4, and the four-star receiver left with Miami high atop his list.

“Definitely top 5 as of right now,” Singleton told the South Florida Sun Sentinel, “and the visit definitely made me like the school even more. The coaches are so much about their players. It’s not just a football thing at the U, it’s family.”

Singleton is a rising prospect in the 2025 class. He is listed as the No. 44 player and No. 12 receiver in the 2025 class in 247Sports’ composite rankings. The DeSoto, Texas, native played in just seven games last season and had 82 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven catches. However, his high school team had a loaded wide receiver corps, which included five-star 2023 Texas signee Johntay Cook III. Singleton also runs track, recording a 21.61 time in the 200-meter. He ran on his high school’s 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams.

As a 2025 prospect, Singleton still has a long time before he puts pen to paper and signs a National Letter of Intent. Singleton, who is listed at 5-10 and 165 pounds, has 10 scholarship offers. So far, he has picked up offers from Louisville, Ole Miss and Oregon in addition to Miami.

He said he is looking for “the feeling of being home,” regardless of how close a school is to his hometown outside of Dallas. He is also looking to see how schools can help him succeed on the field and academically.

During the trip to Miami, Singleton had a chance to watch the Hurricanes practice and meet with the coaches. Singleton and other recruits also had the chance to tour the school and take photos. He said the photo shoot was his favorite part of the trip, and he rated the visit a 10 out of 10.

“I got to see the coaches bond with us players as if we were already attending that school,” Singleton said.

The rising junior prospect also got to speak with new Miami wide receivers coach Kevin Beard, and he came away impressed with his potential future position coach. He also spoke with Miami quality control analyst David Cooney.

“Coach Beard is one of the coolest coaches I’ve come across,” Singleton said. “But within the talks, I can tell he’s about his business. Him and coach Cooney were very open (and) transparent about the expectations and legacy of the U. Definitely felt like a family.”

Following the visit, Singleton said he would definitely make it back to South Florida for another visit.

“I had a very nice time in Coral Gables and can’t wait to get back!” he said.
