Florida State receiver Mycah Pittman had surgery on a torn labral on his left hip that could force him to miss part or all of this upcoming season.

The redshirt senior announced his YouTube channel Saturday, sharing details of the injury he believes he suffered during fall camp.

“I did tear my labral, guys. I tore it in fall camp. I’m almost 100% certain I did,” said Pittman. “Your boy is going to be out four-to-six months and I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it back this season.

“We have a great training staff and great people around me that’s going to help try to get me back.”

FSU coach Mike Norvell included Pittman among several Seminoles who would miss spring camp but did not mention an injury or surgery.

The versatile Pittman became a key ingredient in Florida State’s 10-win season, contributing as a receiver, running back and punt returner. He was second on the team in receptions (32) and third in receiving yards (330) while finishing with a team-high 169 yards on punt returns.

“We found out after the season — about two to three months later — we tried a bunch of rehab on my hip,” Pittman said of the injury. “I played through the whole season with it and it was tough. We thought it was a strain for the longest time. There was a lot of clicking and a lot of stuff going on in my hip that didn’t feel right. If I had known I had this injury, I would have still played throughout the season.”

Pittman shared the surgery process with his more than 75,500 subscribers on his social-media channel.

“I’m sitting you down to explain the story because you all don’t really know the story,” he said. “I was toughing it out throughout the whole season. It was tough but football is football. If you love football, you’re going to go through a lot of things that you don’t want to get through because it’s your livelihood.

“I had my moment of being upset for one day but you have to think of it as it’s God’s plan whatever it is. It sucks because I would rather be out there with my teammates. I’m hoping I can make it back for the season but it’s really up to my body and how I attack rehab.”

FSU opened spring camp on March 6 before giving players the week off during spring break. The Seminoles return to camp on March 21.
