Dad left and took savings, now mother needs help
Stay-at-home mom Leah remembers watching her 6-year-old daughter Emily glued to the TV during the 2016 Summer Olympics, mesmerized by the way the gymnasts were able to move, tumble and flip their bodies in such complex ways.
When Emily saw her favorite athlete take the gold medal, she asked her mom if she could take up the sport, aspiring to achieve the same goal.
A year and a half later, Emily is thriving in gymnastics. She pushes herself to be the best.
While Leah is extremely excited and proud of Emily and her accomplishments, she feels like she’s failing at her deteriorating marriage. Worst of all, her husband left them, with no explanation, just weeks ago. They haven’t spoken since, and her husband took all their savings, claiming it as “his” money.
Taking care of herself and Emily now with limited money, she personally saved for the cost of gymnastics, training and travel, but it has become too much to afford.
Leah doesn’t want to break the news to Emily, as competitive sports teach a child many important life lessons. Leah hates to ask for help, but she has no money to spend on Christmas presents, let alone Emily’s gymnastics classes now that she is supporting her family with little to no income.
