HURLOCK — Martha “Miss Patty” Rhue, 88, of Hurlock, Md., died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at John B. Parsons Assisted Living in Salisbury.
Born July 31, 1930, in Hurlock, she was the daughter of the late Olney Perry Ross Sr. and Carrie Dare Bell Ross.
She was a lifelong resident of Hurlock, graduating from Hurlock High School. Patty worked as a secretary for many years, ending her career at Preston Trucking Company. She was a member of Unity Washington United Methodist Church, where she was a long-term secretary/treasurer for the Sunday School and active with the ladies group. After retirement, she volunteered at Hurlock Elementary School for 20 years. Patty enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening and spending time on her porch.
She is survived by two
sons, Michael E. Rhue and wife Pamela of Blades, Jerry L. Rhue Sr. and wife Shelby of Hurlock; a daughter, Patty Vincent and husband Terry of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Jerry L. Rhue Jr. and wife Shannon, Kelsey A. Vincent; a brother-in-law, Henry Downs Wheatley of Seaford; a sister-in-law, Virginia Naugle and husband Bill of Hurlock.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Eugene Rhue, who died Dec. 13, 2001; two sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2 p.m. at Unity Washington United Methodist Church in Hurlock, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor John Allen will officiate. Interment will follow in Unity Washington Cemetery.
