Winnie Ruth Liner, 97, passed away in Sweetwater, Texas on July 18, 2022. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Garden of Memories with Pastor Kathy Monroe officiatin­g. McCoy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangemen­ts. Winnie Ruth was born on August 31, 1924 in Donna, Texas to Pat and Telia Hooker. She moved to Lawton, Oklahoma when she was 6 and went on to graduate from Lawton High School in 1942. On April 28, 1946, Winnie Ruth married Joe Liner in Lawton. They moved to Sweetwater, Texas in 1948 and owned shoe department­s in Russell’s and Hixon’s department stores. In 1975, they opened Joe Liner Shoes and Apparel and owned it until their retirement in 1994. She was an active member of the First Presbyteri­an Church for many years and served as an elder. Winnie Ruth is survived by her son, Matt Liner of Austin; her daughter, Lesa Foreman and husband, Bruce, of Abilene. She is survived by 4 grandchild­ren and their spouses: Ben and Melanie Liner of Austin, Craig and Haley Foreman of Odessa, Lindsay and Travis Cooper of Prosper, Ashley Liner and fiance’ Ian Curry of Houston. She is survived by 5 great grandchild­ren: Corbin, Kennedy and Cooper Liner; Piper and Ruby Foreman. She is also survived by a great niece, Kathy James and husband Bill; their son, William and his daughter Lorelei of Lawton, Oklahoma. Winnie Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, in 2010; her parents; her sister Jo Hough and her niece and nephew Sally and Dan Cotner. Her family was her great joy and she loved and cared for them her entire life. She will always be missed and her legacy of love and kindness will never be forgotten. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
