Plowgirls win five track events at meet in Forsan
FORSAN — The Roscoe girls won five events at Forsan’s track meet and scored 139 points while the boys had 42 in their division.
Roscoe will compete at a meet in Colorado City on Thursday in its last action prior to the District 8-2A track meet that will be held in Bangs, and is scheduled to run April 5-6.
Roscoe’s Zoey Welch won the 800 (2:41.2) and long jump (15-1 1/2) while Ava Burrell was first in the 400 dash (1:02.5) and Kaidy Ornelas was first in the mile (5:49.9). Also, Burrell, Zoey Welch, Jissel Rodriguez and Kirsten Welch ran on the first-place mile relay that was timed in 4:25.4.
As a team Roscoe was just two points behind Forsan and one behind Compass Academy in a tight race for the division title.
Zoey Welch and Burrell both scored 35 of the 139 points by the Plowgirls, who got points from 13 different athletes.
