SINK OR SWIM?
DESIGNED FOR SEALS, LALO TACTICAL’S SHADOW AMPHIBIAN BOOTS EXCEED EXPECTATIONS
Designed for SEALS, LALO Tactical’s Shadow Amphibian boots exceed expectations.
We recently received the kitchen sink in the form of 8-inch badass boots, the Shadow Amphibian 8 inch by LALO Tactical.
Just in case you’re not familiar with the brand, LALO is an acronym for “Light Assault Operator,” a nimble, quick, tactical Special Forces Operator.
The LALO Tactical line is a direct result of briefings received from Special Operations Forces. The need was to build lightweight, packable and breathable boots and shoes they could count on, whether training or deployed. “We evaluated what they needed for waterborne operations and built the product to exceed their requirements,” said Jay Taylor, LALO chief executive officer.
Their tactical boots and athletic designs put an emphasis on noise reduction, support and game-day performance.
According to Taylor, “The Shadow Amphibian is made for and in conjunction with the Navy SEALS to use while in the air, on land and in the water. It is not designed to keep the water out, but to let if flow in and out of the boot as needed.”
Guess what? It works. We took a leisurely stroll through a backwoods creek and watched the water flow out of our boots as if there were a mini bilge pump at work. Climbing rope was no problem, and for fast roping, they’ve actually built in a contoured metal arch with teeth to make sure you don’t end up a lawndart in some far-away land.
“Our goal was to put the best possible tactical boot on the feet of the operators who are putting themselves in harm's way,” Taylor said.
Features start with a two-way passive drainage system; patented composite plate and TPU outsole for an efficient “stealth approach” when transferring energy from foot strike to toe-off; contoured climbing arch; compression molded EVA midsole and insole; fin lock; slip resistant, lightweight, injection-blown Dupont TPU outsole; and articulating heel and outsole shape for assisting in noise reduction.
They also have a blade-resistant “Superfabric” toe cap; 8-inch microfiber water-shedding synthetic leather upper with breathable membrane; moisture-wicking, water-shedding antimicrobial upper lining; rip-stop nylon accents; engineered Achilles flex notch; sleek vamp profile for secure fin fit and climbing; gusseted tongue construction with invisible lace pocket; and seamless and lightweight quarter protection construction.
“Time and space matter in tactical situations, and the Shadow boot was designed and developed with this in mind,” said Shannon Baker, LALO’S chief business officer. “Our focus was to give the operator the best possible advantage.”
Again, mission accomplished.
“WE EVALUATED WHAT THEY NEEDED FOR WATERBORNE OPERATIONS AND BUILT THE PRODUCT TO EXCEED THEIR REQUIREMENTS.”
For these tactical boots, the emphasis is on noise reduction, support and performance.
