Let the votes be counted

Tampa Bay Times - - Opinion -

I am simply stunned by Gov. Rick Scott’s accusations of fraud against “liberals” while the state is still engaged in making sure every Floridian’s vote counts. This kind of a baseless accusation against “liberals” could well provide “justification” for yet another unstable armed nutcase who deems himself a protector of “law and order” to commit an act of violence. It is simply irresponsible. Don’t they realize that their words matter? Or are they setting us all up for turmoil in case the final count shows that they haven’t won? A true public servant interested in the well-being of all Floridians would call for calm to let the system work itself out — not accuse those who are still working on it of fraud. Yes, we need to figure this out. And yes, it needs to be transparent. But this isn’t the “liberals.” This is democracy.
