Bosses to pay less to workers’ comp
Beginning next year, Florida employers will pay just under 14 percent less for workers’ compensation insurance, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation said Friday. The new rate will not affect the amount that is paid out on claims. Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier said the lower rates “will allow employers to better support Florida’s families, visitors and labor force.” The drop, proposed by the National Council on Compensation Insurance in August, was spurred by the lower number of workers’ compensation claims in recent years. Overall, Altmaier said, the reduction represents $454 million in savings.
