Pedes­trian hit by three cars dies

A Hud­son man try­ing to cross State Road 52 on foot early Sun­day morn­ing died af­ter three dif­fer­ent cars hit him, Florida High­way Pa­trol spokesman Sgt. Steve Gask­ins wrote in a re­lease. Just af­ter 12:30 a.m., Jay Kim­mel, 59, of Hud­son, be­gan to walk north across half a dozen lanes of traf­fic near where State Road 52 in­ter­sects with Choctaw Trail. Three cars, one driven by Rachael Bradley, 22, of Hud­son; an­other by Jayde Devries, 23, of Port Richey and the third by Nathaniel John­ston, 52, of Spring Hill, were headed east­bound along the road at that time. All three cars hit Kim­mel af­ter the man “en­tered the path of the ap­proach­ing ve­hi­cles,” Gask­ins wrote in the re­lease. All three cars were trav­el­ing in the in­side lane. Kim­mel died at the scene, Gask­ins said. No charges were filed in the in­ci­dent, ac­cord­ing to the Florida High­way Pa­trol re­lease.
