Community’s seniors treated to holiday lunch
Nearly 300 Tehachapi seniors enjoyed this year’s community sponsored holiday lunchroom dinner hosted by Tehachapi Rotary Club.
Held again in the St. Malachy Catholic Church fellowship hall, seniors ages 60-plus enjoyed a traditional turkey dinner with dressing, string beans, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and of course dessert, pumpkin pie. Twenty-two donated turkeys were cooked in the ovens at Save Mart.
Santa greeted the seniors with jovial conversation and candy canes. Rotary President Linda Carhart welcomed everyone and thanked the many donors and businesses for their continued support of seniors.
“We are truly a blessed community. These donors help make the Rotary be able to live up to our mission, Service above self,” Carhart said.
Father Mark led the opening blessing. Music was by keyboard vocalist Donna Franks. Tehachapi High
School’s Interact Club — 34 members strong — served each of the 34 tables much to the delight of the seniors.
