Rodriguez commits to swim for CSU-Pueblo

Standout swimming senior Regan Rodriguez announced her commitment to further her athletic and academic career at Colorado State University-Pueblo.

Rodriguez has been an avid swimmer for 12 years while maintainin­g a 4.0 grade point average at Tehachapi High. She also has taken college classes. Academical­ly, Rodriguez is on the Honor Roll, National Society of High School Scholars and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She also currently volunteers for the Adventist hospital and has volunteere­d for Saint Malachy Church and Barracuda Swim Team.

In the pool, she was the captain for the swim team, first team all-conference, second team all-county and honorable mention all-county in three years competing in the Central Interschol­astic Federation. Rodriguez swims for a USA club and has traveled for various meets throughout California, Arizona and Utah.

WARRIOR BASKETBALL CLIPPED BY WEST ON THE ROAD

Mountain Basketball nearly overcame a double-digit deficit on the road to Bakersfiel­d-West, but in the end fell in a 58-56 defeat.

Devin Jackson led the effort with a double-double, 15 point and 13 rebound performanc­e. Other leaders included Karson Tiewater (14 points, four assists, four steals), Antony Cerbantez (12 points), Dylan Valdez (five points), James Adamson (five rebounds, four points) and Kenny Pitt (eight rebounds, four points).

Earlier in the week, Tehachapi (6-14; 0-3 SYML) dropped a home game to North, 73-41.

Adamson was the leading

scorer with 10 points, followed by Cerbantez (seven points, four steals), Tiewater (six points), Valdez (five points), Keegan Ford (four points), Kenny Pitt (four points, four rebounds) and Devin Jackson (seven rebounds).

In JV action, the Warriors defeated North 42-30 and West 44-19.

Tehachapi (6-6; 2-1 SYML) was led in the win over North by Owen Keller (14 points), Conner Rothermel (10 points), Thaddeus Dyer (seven points) and Mason Rothermel (five points).

In the win over West, Mason Rothermel (nine points, five rebounds, three steals, Keller (eight points, three rebounds), Simon Askins (eight points, seven rebounds), Colton Michael (seven points, three steals), Aiden Nicholson (five points), Liam Smith (four points, four rebounds) and Dyer (five steals) had standout performanc­es.

LADY WARRIOR BASKETBALL DOMINATES IN PAIR OF SYML VICTORIES

Tehachapi (17-2; 3-0 SYML) are well on their way to securing a second-consecutiv­e league championsh­ip after a pair of runaway

wins over North (74-46) and West (71-19).

The Lady Warriors were down by seven points at halftime to North but exploded in the third quarter with a 35-4 advantage to pull away for the win. Riley Walden (28 points, six rebounds) led the way, followed by Koree Rodden (11 points, six assists), Jamie Neaderbaom­er (10 points, six steals, five rebounds), Kennedy Perkins (nine points, five rebounds), Camille Foster (nine points, nine rebounds) and Carly Hayes (four points, 11 rebounds).

Mountain Basketball exercised their will in the win over West, ending the game with a mercy-rule running clock in the second half. Standouts included Rodden

(18 points, eight rebounds, five steals), Neaderbaom­er (16 points, seven rebounds,

four steals), Walden (14 points, five steals, four rebounds), Perkins (eight points, six rebounds), Kenadee Gary (five points), Annie Loken (five rebounds, four points), Foster (eight rebounds, four points) and Hayes (eight rebounds).

At the JV level, the Lady Warriors defeated North 1916 and West 48-10.

Tehachapi (11-4; 3-0 SYML) was led in the win over West by Addison Smith (12 points), Brooklyn King (eight points), Hayden Avila (seven points), Lola Napier (six points), Pristine Perkins (six points), Olivia Roed (four points) and Kaylee King (four points). Against North, Roed (eight points), Smith (five points), and Christy (four points) were

the leading scorers.

LADIES SOCCER BLANKS NORTH AND WEST IN LEAGUE ACTION

Tehachapi (9-3-4; 2-1 SYML) bounced back from their SYML opener defeat to South last week with a pair of dominating victories over North (4-0) and West (7-0).

Hannah Tyree had a hat trick three goals in the win over North, followed by Siena Kaiser with a goal and Tailey Jelleschit­z and Delilah Cardenas each with an assist.

In the victory over West, Autumn Heeb had a threegoal hat trick and an assist, Delilah Cardenas had two goals, Ivie Billings had a goal and assist and Riley Jelleschit­z had an assist.

In both matches, Marissa Grier and Makenna Paxton earned shutout victories at keeper. In junior varsity action this past week, the Tehachapi (11-1; 3-0 SYML) defeated North (8-0) and West (5-0).
