HIGH SCHOOLS MIAA state tournament­s Boys’ basketball Division 3 preliminar­y

Hudson 59, Valley Tech 50: Garrett Giorgio scored his 11 points in the second half for the host Hawks (11-10), who trailed by five points at halftime but still topped the Beavers (11-10). Teammate Jackson O’Brien netted 21 points, and Jake Attaway had 10. Jon Powell (15 points) and Ryan Sauter (12) led BVT. Hudson plays at eighth-seeded Newburypor­t at 6 p.m. Thursday in the round of 32.

Oakmont 51, Greater Lawrence 31: Zavian Ortiz drilled four-3-pointers while netting 19 points as the host Spartans (11-10) advanced in the state tournament. They play in the round of 32 at fourth-seeded Taconic

Division 4 preliminar­y

Uxbridge 45, Ayer-Shirley 44: Michael Stark (7 points) hit the winning 3pointer with 13 seconds left to help the 30th-seeded Spartans (13-8) hold off the No. 35 Panthers (16-5) in Uxbridge. Uxbridge plays at third-seeded Monument Mountain at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Tommy Bergin netted 10 of his game-high 14 points in the fourth quarter for AyerShirle­y, which trailed by 12 entering the final period. Uxbridge’s Ethan McCusker scored 11 points.

Northbridg­e 61, Southwick 48: Tyrese Holder-Hinds had 20 points and 15 rebounds, and Anthony Becerril added 15 points to boost the host Rams (10-11). Northbridg­e, the 25th seed, plays at eighth-seeded Lynn Tech in the round of 32 at 6 p.m. Friday.

West Bridgewate­r 60, Gardner 33: Camden Gamache had 18 points, but No. 36th-seeded Gardner (11-10) fell on the road to No. 28 West Bridgewate­r (7-17).

Division 5 preliminar­y

Keefe Tech 71, Mount Everett 59: Logan Greenlaw collected 30 points and 14 rebounds to boost the host No. 32 Broncos (11-10). Keefe Tech plays at topseeded Hoosac Valley at 7 p.m. Thursday in the round of 32. George Anastos scored 15 points for Keefe Tech, and teammate Noah Lyons added 11.

Girls’ basketball Division 1 preliminar­y

Methuen 70, Algonquin 44: Ashley Dameri scored 14 points, while Brooke Adams and Sophie Hjerpe each had 12, but the 32nd-seeded Titans (10-11) fell short in Northborou­gh.

Division 2 preliminar­y

Westboroug­h 57, Marblehead 49: Annabelle Semeter netted 13 points, and Kate Sams and Rachel Carpenter each added 11, and the host Rangers (13-8) prevailed. Westboroug­h plays at 5 p.m. Friday at top-seeded Medfield in the round of 32.

Division 3 preliminar­y

Hudson 63, Lowell Catholic 42: Samantha Collette had 19 points and 15 rebounds, while Anna Iacobucci collected 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals to propel the host Hawks (13-8). They play at seventh-seeded Sandwich in the round of 32 at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Division 4 preliminar­y

Lunenburg 49, Tri-County 31: Erin Peplowski hit four 3-pointers and finished with 15 points for the host Blue Knights (8-13). Chloe Koziol added 12 points for Lunenburg, which plays a 6 p.m. Thursday at 11th-seeded Frontier Regional in South Deerfield in the round of 32.

St. Bernard’s 39, Wareham 29: Elisabeth Gardiner netted 18 points for the host Bernardian­s (12-9). St. Bernard’s plays at third-seeded South Hadley in the round of 32 at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Division 5 preliminar­y

Norfolk Aggie 40, Abby Kelley 34: Destiny Boateng scored 21 points in a home loss for the Bears (12-9).

Boys’ hockey Division 3 preliminar­y

Hopedale 3, Somerville 0: Sean McGee had a goal and assist, and Aiden Collins and Joe Butler also scored for the No. 31 Blue Raiders (6-13-2), who scored three times in the final period to top the No. 34 Highlander­s (10-9-2). Nathan Morin earned the shutout for Hopedale, which faces second-seeded Shawsheen Tech at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hallenborg Pavilion in Billerica in the round of 32.

LOCAL COLLEGES Women’s basketball

Assumption 57, Adelphi 43: Marina Callahan had 22 points and eight rebounds, and Kaijhe Hall added 13 points and seven boards as the host Greyhounds (23-4, 18-4 Northeast-10) won 15 of their last 16 games to finish their regular season. They finished tied with Bentley for the NE-10 regular-season title.

Assumption hosts a NE-10 quarterfin­al at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, against the winner of the Adelphi/Pace first-round game on Friday.

Men’s basketball

Assumption 86, Adelphi 75: Kasey Draper hit four of his five 3-point shots and netted 27 points, with Alex Carlisle and Njavan Stewart each adding 15 as the host Greyhounds (15-13, 11-11 Northeast-10) took their regular-season finale and completed a regular-season sweep of the Panthers (18-10, 14-8).

Baseball

Nichols 21, St. Joseph’s (Conn.) 4: Leadoff hitter Jim Marasco went 5 for 5 and the cycle, including a double, threerun triple, grand slam, another homer while totaling 11 RBIs as the Bison (1-1) rolled past the Blue Jays (0-1) in West Haven. Noah Sanabia also homered and drove in three runs, and Will Kleinhenz had a three-run double.

Women’s lacrosse

Holy Cross 12, UMass 10: Lauren Drillock assisted on Isabela Miller’s tying goal in the fourth quarter, then scored with 4:19 and 2:34 left as the Crusaders (3-2) topped the Minutewome­n (0-3) in Amherst. Drillock finished with five goals, Miller had three, and Tori Cini made 17 saves for HC, which had only three draw controls to UMass’ 22

Assumption 17, Franklin Pierce 6: Kyle Johnston scored five goals, Molly Weiand netted four and Olivia Catanzarit­e three as the 22nd-ranked Greyhounds romped at home in their season opener past the Ravens (0-2, 0-1 Northeast-10). Jenna Joseph had a goal and seven assists for Assumption.

Fitchburg State 13, Lasell 9: Jessica St. George scored four times, and Autumn Tibbetts had a goal and three assists to spark the visiting Falcons in their opener.

Men’s lacrosse

Salem State 14, Anna Maria 13: Hank Gittines scored four goals, and Liam Bedenkop and Eric Farrell each had two goals and two assists for the host AmCats (0-3), who fell behind early, 7-1, and couldn’t quite catch the Vikings (1-1).
