Texas-side City Council meets tonight
Members will consider personnel agreement, contract for development planning and annexation, rezoning
The Texarkana, Texas, City Council will consider approving an agreement to provide a secretary/receptionist for the Criminal Investigation Division of Texarkana, Ark., at its meeting tonight.
If approved, the agreement would provide the services for one year at a cost to Texarkana, Ark., in an amount not to exceed $16,134.77.
The council will also consider approving and authorizing City Manager John Whitson to execute an application and agreement between the city and the Texas Department of Public Safety for the Texas 1033 Surplus Property Program.
The application would allow the city to seek out a vehicle for the SWAT team.
Members will also consider an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract between the city and Economic Developer Jerry Sparks. It would aim to develop strategy and implement policy and plans in community development, economic development, tax-base development, tax infrastructure zones/districts, and other mutually agreed upon aspects of interest to both Sparks and the city.
A second and final reading of two ordinances for the annexation of property will also be carried out. The properties include a little more than 7.5 acres on the south side of Heritage Oak Street, east of Summerhill Road, and lots at the end of Palisades Drive.
The council will also consider a public hearing and ordinance to rezone a 0.849 acre tract of land in the George Brinlee HRS to be part of Lot 5 of the Kenwood Park Subdivision.
The meeting is slated for 6 p.m. at City Hall, 220 Texas Blvd.
