Ouachita defeats Trinity’s boys, girls

- By Phil Sandoval

Trinity Christian's goal of building momentum before the start of the conference tournament in two weeks was dealt a blow by Ouachita, which won both games on Tuesday at Wallace Edgar Arena.

Playing in front of their home fans for the last time this season, the boys fell 46-24 and the girls lost 45-26.

Due to a schedule conflict, Trinity will play Stephens on Thursday at Genoa Central.

There wasn't a lid on the basket, but the Warriors boys must have though so. Trinity sank just 9 of 46 field goal attempts and was held to single digits until the fourth quarter when they scored 14.

"Its been like that for us for a few games," said coach Jason Glover. "We haven't been shooting the ball well at all and when you play that's better than us right now we couldn't compete with them.

By then, Trinity trailed 41-10 and was faced with the task of trying to slash the lead under a running clock.

Ouachita put the pressure on Trinity from the start, streaking to a 17-3 first quarter lead where the Warriors made one field goal.

While Ouachita point totals declined as the game progressed, Trinity's shooting problems continued.

The Warriors concluded the half making just 2 of 23 shot attempts and were looking up at a 29-6 deficit.

Trinity ended the game on a positive note by scoring the last nine points of the contest.

Two Ouachita starters—Austin

Ray and Drew Hamilton— accounted for 17 and 15 points, respectively. Hootie Crow netted seven for Trinity.

Austin Lawrence scored six points and Colton Youngblood swished in four for Trinity Christian's junior boys' 59-20 loss to Ouachita.
