Tumblers clean up at Metroplex Challenge
FORT WORTH—Competing in their biggest competition of the year the Northeast Texas Tumblers brought back a large amount of medals and honors from last weekend's Metroplex Challenge.
The event, held at the Fort Worth Convention Center, hosted over 4,000 athletes.
The Tumblers concluded the three-day meet with four allaround champions and 10 gold medalists.
On Saturday, Jan. 19, Jocelyn Robertson captured the Level 4. A1 division title with a total score of 38.07, which included a gold medal performance in the balance beam, where she earned a 9.45 score.
Lani Lanier took the Level 4, A2 division all-around competition on a total mark of 38.25. Lanier also picked up gold medals—on bars (9.75) and floor exercise (9.575).
The Tumblers added to their list of honors with two more all -around champs in Sunday, Jan. 20 competition.
Caroline Baird won the Level 5, A1 division gold medal on a total score of 36.55. Top marks included first place efforts in floor exercise (9.55) and in the vault competition (8.35).
Meredith Maynard was the Level 5, A3 division all-around gold medalist, concluding the division with a high score of 38.00 along with individual golds in bars (9.7), floor (9.6) and vault (9.4).
Autumn Underwood won the Level 4, A3 division bars event with a score of 9. 75 to go with a third place medal in floor exercise.
Holland Palmore won the A1, Level 4 vault gold medal with a career-best 9.875 score.
Other top-three finishes by Tumbler gymnasts were Ally Smith, second, Level 4, A1 vault; Kayli Boozer, second, Level 4, A1 vault; Emma Seidenschwarz, third, Level 5, A1 vault; and Kendra Walraven, third, Level 5, A2, vault.
The Tumblers travel to Conway, Ark. for an invitational meet this weekend at the Sonshine Gymnastics Academy complex.
