His entire life, Texarkana native Terry Larey has been an active hunter, and an accurate one at that. He has a long history of awards, trophies and extraordinary hunting experiences.

Despite that reputation, the hunter remains humble and friendly about his life.

Talking to Terry, it becomes apparent that his skills and enthusiasm are rare traits. He accounts the success to consistency and good timing.

As Terry puts it, “I’d rather be lucky than good.”

Checking out the walls in his office, it is obvious the man has been very “lucky” over the years. Lined with trophies, Terry has great stories to go along with many of them.

Traveling, constantly learning and finding good hunting spots has been a pastime for the family man for three decades. Chief among those spots is Illinois, where many of his prized trophy deer come from. The stories and experiences taken from these adventures is something Terry enjoys sharing with young people, those new to the sport and other enthusiasts.

Terry feels a need to reinforce how important hunting can be as an outlet for families and friendships. He says camaraderie that comes from the sport is distinct and can be uniquely beneficial for many. This can be seen in how tight-knit Terry’s circle of loved ones are and how committed they are to the lifestyle.

As a successful bail bondsman in town, Terry has found that his discipline for hunting and his career inform each other. Investing a lifetime of his own hard work, and with the assistance of his family and friends, Terry has recently opened TTown Camo, a sporting goods store he always hoped would come to fruition. With a focus on apparel, Terry and his family wish to deliver fair prices and unexpected finds from the people that know the sport best. Soon, Terry will also be unveiling his own brand of deer stands that will be featured at the store.

Terry feels this region is a hotbed for hunting when it comes to many types of game.

“Last year was one of the best years of hunting, in regards to dove and deer hunting, I’ve ever had. I believe in this area,” he said.
