Trotter, Lady Tigers sweep Marshall

MARSHALL, Texas—Texas High's Jalissa Trotter continue her torrid play, leading the Lady Tigers to a sweep over Marshall in the District 14-4A volleyball opener for both teams Friday in Maverick Gym.

The Lady Tigers (10-11) won 25-22, 25-20, 25-22.

Trotter had 22 assists, 17 service points and 16 kills. Other THS leaders were Nicki Burks with 14 digs, 12 points and eight kills, K'tianna Davis had 16 points and seven digs, Chealsea Slider 30 assists and seven points, and Alissia Walker 15 points.

Texas High also won the other two sub-varsity matches. In the junior varsity, THS won 20-25, 25-21, 25-19, with Taylor Post serving 18 points for

the winners.

In the freshmen match, the Tigers won 25-14, 25-11, with Laressa Harris serving a gamehigh 21 points.

Texas High's next district match will be Tuesday at Sulphur Springs.

Pleasant Grove swept

Paris North Lamar took no prisoners as the Lady Panthers swept homestandi­ng Pleasant Grove in the District 13-3A opener for both teams in Hawk Gym.

The Panthers won, 25-11, 2513, 25-21.

Pleasant Grove was paced by Regan Aubrey with 11 digs and nine kills, Taylor Flanery had 10 assists and seven service points and Brooke Smith had 13 digs.

The Lady Hawks' next district match will be Tuesday at Atlanta.

Leopards fall in five

PARIS, Texas—Liberty-Eylau had Paris on the ropes and led two games to one, but Paris rallied to win the final two games and the match in the District 13-3A opener for both teams at Wildcat Gym.

Paris won, 20-25, 25-14, 25-27, 25-20, 15-9.

Morgan Utsey paced the Lady Leopards with 13 service points, 10 kills and five blocks, Chelsea Fagan had 11 blocks, Lakyn Hutchison had 14 digs and Brianna Johnson 12 digs and eight kills.

Liberty-Eylau will host Paris North Lamar on Tuesday in the Rader Dome.

Golf THS in middle of pack

GRANBURY, Texas—Texas High girls concluded the first day of the two-day, 36-hole, Lady Pirate Classic at Harbor Lakes Country Club seventh among 18 teams. The Lady Tigers shot a combined 339. Mansfield leads at 319.

Individual­ly, THS' Emma Edwards carded a team-low 78. The score puts her in the top 10 heading into today's final round of 18 holes. Results of the rest of THS' group of six participat­ing golfers has Camryn Parsons at 86, Madeline Hunley at 87, Hannah Brantley shot 88, and Kammi Westbrook and Kasey Kane had rounds of 94 and 97, respective­ly.

Kyong Kim from Crowley is the overall leader with a 2-under round of 70.
