Boy, 13, arrested for attempted robbery
A 13-year-old is in juvenile detention after being arrested for robbery.
Susan Efird, 42, of Texarkana, Texas, was inside her vehicle early Wednesday in a parking lot in the 2400 block of Texas Boulevard when she was approached twice by a young male, said Sgt. Steve Shelley, Texarkana, Texas, Police Department public information officer.
The second time the juvenile approached Efird, he pulled her from her vehicle and she sprayed him with pepper spray, he said.
The juvenile allegedly struck Efird in the upper body several times with his fist. He then allegedly entered Efird’s vehicle in an attempt to take it, but was thwarted when he couldn’t find its keys, Shelley said.
The juvenile struck Efird again, then fled the scene on foot.
Approximately two hours later, officers received a call in reference to a suspicious person matching the description of the juvenile, walking in the area of Richmond Road and Texas Boulevard, he said.
Officers matched the clothing and age description with the individual. Based on evidence discovered during investigation, the juvenile was arrested for robbery. He was transported to the juvenile detention center.
Efird was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local health care center.
