Man wanted in Barrios’ death found in Oklahoma
A suspect in the death of a Texarkana, Ark., man has been arrested.
Miguel “Angel” Martinez, 24, was apprehended Thursday in Tulsa, Okla., by the Tulsa Police Department’s Fugitive Task Force on a warrant for first-degree murder in connection with the death of Jamie “Jimmy” Barrios, 57, of Texarkana, Ark.
Around 1 p.m. Nov. 16, a caller to the Texarkana, Ark., Police Department reported suspicious circumstances concerning a home at 1413 County Ave. When officers arrived, they found Barrios’ lifeless body in an apartment situated behind the home.
Barrios’ body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy. ASCL officials determined the cause of death was severe head trauma.
Kristi Mitchell, public information officer for the TAPD, said Martinez will be extradited to Arkansas from Oklahoma.
She said the investigation into the crime is ongoing and additional details are not available at this time.
“Texarkana, Ark., Police Department Criminal Investigation detectives have spent countless hours investigating this crime and have been in constant contact with the Tulsa Oklahoma Fugitive Task Force today to bring this fugitive to justice,” she said.
