Artisans Gallery holds open house tonight
Reynolds Realty Management invites art lovers to enjoy an open house at Artisans Gallery & Gifts from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight. The event features work made by area artists, wine and cheese, and live music. A painting will be raffled and new work is up to see at Artisans, including unique wooden furniture and Westernthemed art. Artisans Gallery will have several works offered at discounted prices.
“Promoting local artists is essentially our motivation,” said Skylar Rogers, vice president of operations at Reynolds Realty, hosts for the party. Cody Pappas and Tracy Davis will provide live entertainment, while wine will be provided by Red Road Winery.
On Saturday, Artisans Gallery hosts its monthly Park “UR” Art Festival and a holiday open house sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A children’s art class will be held that day, and visitors can enjoy hors d’oeuvres and an arts kickoff event for the holiday season.
“A lot of the artists will be in their booths painting or doing whatever it is they do,” said Devorah “D” Kaledo-Marlatt, gallery owner.
Artisans’ Park “UR” Art features a space for other local artists who would like to sell their work at Artisans for the day. The fee is $10. Anyone interested can contact Kaledo-Marlatt in advance.
New work featured at Artisans includes furniture by Arkansas artist Richard Thomas. Raffle tickets for a painting by Ray Saxton will be sold for $5 at tonight’s open house. Raffle sales will be used to support Artisans. The work was donated by the artist.
Work by other Artisans artists will be offered at a discount. That includes traditional art like paintings in addition to more non-traditional art, such as jewelry.
Kaledo-Marlatt says the Four States Regional Art Club will
soon have work featured on an entire wall at the gallery. Artisans welcomes new artists who’d like to be displayed at the gallery.
“We won’t rest until every single one of our artists from Texarkana have a piece of art here,” Kaledo-Marlatt said, adding, “We definitely have talent.”
