TISCA meet finals today at Texarkana College

- Staff Report

Today's finals of the annual Texas High TISCA meet at Texarkana College's Pinkerton Aquatics Center could turn into a dogfight to determine the best team among three emerging contenders from Friday's preliminaries.

Defending champ Texas High posted the best mark in three events. Expected challengers are Tyler Lee and Nacogdoches.

The Tigersharks hope of retaining the team title got a boost when the boys dive team and the girls 100 backstrokers took the top three positions among the both events eight finalists.

Senior Walker Lambert recorded the top score with 116.16 points to THS teammates Calvin Lourens and Hunter Burt, who finished with marks of 115.55 and 114.44.

Likewise, Tigershark teammates Ashton Latham (1:04.59), Alex Jones (1:09.05) and Oralia Basurto-Ruiz (1:10.41) carry the fastest times into today's girls 100yard backstroke.

Additional events where Texas High appear to have an edge are in the boys butterfly where seniors Chris Radowski and Brennan Hile have settled in as the favorites. Zack Baker recorded a 1:02.83 prelims-best 100 breastroke time.

The girls other event-best times are in the 200 medley and 200 free relays where they posted preliminary times of 1:59.19 and 1:50.26, respectively.

Action begins with today's dive finals at 8:45 a.m. The firs swim event is slated for 10:45 a.m.
