Texas High takes down Lady Hawks, Spring Hill

LONGVIEW, Texas—Texas High won a pair of games in the JoAnn Sparks Shootout at Spring Hill's Panther Gym Thursday.

The Lady Tigers topped Pleasant Grove, 61-50, and edged the host Lady Panthers, 4240. Texas High (5-1) withdrew from any further play due to the inclement weather forecast and hazardous road conditions.

Jalissa Trotter ripped the cords for 18 points against the Lady Hawks (6-3) and was one of four Tigers in double figures. K.T. Davis and Kierra Smith added 12 points each, and Angel Crump had 11 points.

Brette Wacha scored a gamehigh 21 points to pace Pleasant Grove.

In the win over Spring Hill, Trotter scored 15 points. Anne Hollas led the Lady Panthers with 13 points, and Madison Martin had 10.

In the Spring Hill ninth grade tournament, Texas High beat Carthage, 41-23, with Takeba Dowden scoring 11 points. The Lady Tigers lost to Longview, 47-27, with Tamina Croom scoring seven.

L-E drops pair

WINNSBORO, Texas— Liberty-Eylau lost a pair of games in the Winnsboro tournament, falling to Tyler Lee, 3731, and Mount Vernon, 66-53.

Morgan Utsey led the Lady Leopards against Mount Vernon with 13 points, and Jazmyne Jackson and Chelsea Fagan added nine points apiece.

Utsey had eight points against Tyler Lee. Dajia Thompson and Alex Throne scored 10 each for Lee.

Boys athens 70, Liberty-Eylau 47

VAN, Texas—Liberty-Eylau fell behind by 15 points in the first quarter and never recovered in the Van tournament.

Due to the winter weather forecasted, the event won’t be played after today or tomorrow.

Ryan Jefferson scored 22 points, and Anthony Sanders added 19 for the Hornets.

Keith Wynkoop led the Leopards with 13 points, Javon Rigsby had 11, and Kwan Curry 10.

L-E (2-1) hosts Clarksvill­e Tuesday.
