Lady Lions win, clinch first place

NEW BOSTON, Texas—Hannah White slapped in 11 service points as the New Boston Lady Lions clinched first place in district 15-3A by beating Paris Chisum, 25-19,21-25,25-22, 26-24.

Haley Zellars contribute­d nine service points, McKenzie Madill and Brandi Crowder muscled in nine kills apiece, and Marqueshia Thompson provided 10 kills for the Lady Lions.

Emily McAlexande­r stone walled at the net, piling up four blocks, Meredith Farris paced the defense with six digs, and Jacey Thomas had a game-high 30 assists for New Boston. The Lady Lions will take on Daingerfie­ld at Mount Pleasant on Monday at 7 p.m.

New Boston’s junior varsity lost against Chisum, 25-20, 25-20. Victoria Halcomb had five service points for the Lady Lions.

Hailee Nero supplied four service points in the 9th grade game, but New Boston fell, 25-18, 25-8 to Chisum.

DeKalb placed fourth in the district standings and also qualified for the postseason.

Queen City earns first

MOUNT VERNON, Texas—Shelby Kennedy dished out 12 service points of which three were aces to pace Queen City in its sweep over Mount Vernon, 25-18, 27-25, 25-22, to claim first place in district 16-3A.

Brianna Watkins led the Lady Bulldogs (28-9, 10-2) in kills with 12, Maci Stringer had 16 assists and nine digs, and Katy Tankersley furnished 22 digs. Next, Queen City will face DeKalb in the first round of the playoffs.

Queen City junior varsity got by Mount Vernon, 19-25,25-21,28-26. Celeste Fortune supplied nine service points, and Autumn Kennedy had eight for the Lady Bulldogs, who are undefeated district champions.

Linden-Kildare into postseason

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Amiyah Brown helped flow the offense, delivering 28 assists and 15 service points to lead Linden-Kildare’s sweep over Hughes Springs, 25-22, 25-18, 25-19.

The win solidified third place for the Lady Tigers (19-17, 8-4) in district 16-3A. Haylee Smoak had a match-high 17 kills, 21 digs, and eight service points, and Lexi Loizeaux led Linden-Kildare with 27 digs.

Lady Blue Tigers playoff-bound

BOGATA, Texas—Clarksvill­e swept Rivercrest and will set its focus on Cumby in the bi-district round of the Class 2A playoffs.

The Lady Blue Tigers had 21 service aces in the match and just nine serve-receive errors. Jamie Woods served 16 winners and had nine aces to go along with her five kills and two blocks for Clarksvill­e (24-8, 8-4). Becky Taylor contribute­d 11 points and six aces, Tyisha Washington had six points, four aces, six kills and two blocks, and Tirionna Woodberry contribute­d 12 assists and five points.

Clarksvill­e plays Cumby in the first match of a doublehead­er at Paris High School Tuesday at 6 p.m. Quinlan Boles and Detroit play the 8 p.m. contest.

Redwater sweeps

HOOKS, Texas—Redwater made quick work of Hooks in a 25-13, 25-15, 25-19 rout at Hornet Gym.

The Hornets took the win in JV action with a 25-18, 25-23 sweep. Sadie Denburger led Hooks with eight points. Ashley Wright posted eight for Redwater. Bailey O’Bannon’s 13 points led Redwater’s 9th grade to a 25-19, 26-24 win.
