Mr. Gary Lamont McAdams, age 69, of Fouke, Arkansas after a lengthy illness was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 28, 2015.

Gary was born Dec 11, 1945 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Leonard and Florence Sewell McAdams. He was a Christian attending Hampton Church of Christ, a farmer and a rancher. He served in the Arkansas National Guard, was a former Chief Steward of Plumbers & Pipefitter’s Union #237 at Red River Army Depot, a member and former President of Red River Cattlemen’s Associatio­n, served as Area IV Vice President of the Arkansas Cattlemen’s Associatio­n, a member and Lifetime Board Member of Miller County Farm Bureau, former President of Fouke School Board of Directors, a member of Woodmen of the World and the National Rifle Associatio­n and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

His family was recognized as ‘Farm Family of the Year’ for Miller County in 1989. They were operating farms with 7 poultry houses producing 1,120,000 to 1,344,000 broiler chickens a year. They also raised paint horses, 150 cows with calves, and a number of hogs and baby pigs, several dogs, and three terrific, productive children who have contribute­d much to the betterment of society as a whole, but especially in their individual places in the community. He was the biggest booster of his children and grandchild­ren and their ball teams for many years.

His belief in God and His Son Jesus colored all of his decisions, while in the tractor, negotiatin­g a union contract, the school building, the farm & ranch meetings, and on the ball fields, or the hospitals during his last years. Above all, he was known as a fair man, with the same rules for all.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a dear sister,Venita McJunkins and a brother–in-law Charles Stanley.

He is survived by his wife and business partner of 48 years, Orelia (Mickey) McAdams, three children and their spouses, Lisa and Chuck Tweedy, Randy McAdams, and Jon and Angie McAdams, all of Fouke, AR, 8 grandchild­ren, Tyler McElwee and wife Hollie, of New Boston, TX, Kobie McAdams, Josh Tweedy, and Holly Tweedy all of Fouke, AR, Jacob Garrett and Samantha McAdams, of Texarkana, AR, and Braden and Garyson McAdams also of Fouke, AR; 2 great-grandchild­ren Paxton and Hudson McElwee of New Boston, TX; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Nona and Delbert Jones, of Texarkana, AR, 1 brother and his wife, Joe and Angie McAdams of Fouke, AR; 1 brother-in-law, Ralph McJunkins of Texarkana, AR, 2 sisters-inlaw, Phyllis Stanley of Avery, TX and Virginia Jo Johnson and husband, Mike, of Paris, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews, friends and family.

A memorial service celebratin­g his life will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Hampton Church of Christ in Nash, TX at 2:00 pm with visitation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red River Cattlemen’s Scholarshi­p Fund, 3215 Miller County 15, Texarkana, AR 71854. This fund is used to help young people in Bowie & Miller Counties who are attending college in a beefrelate­d field of study.
