Ralph M. Elkins, of Ashdown, Arkansas passed away May 27, 2015 in New Orleans, Louisiana after a brief illness. Mr. Elkins was born June 18, 1930 in Gastonia, North Carolina. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a mason and a member of the Cumberland Presbyteri­an faith. Preceded in death by his brother, Doice Elkins. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucille Elkins, two daughters, Lori Parault and PL, and Erin Hughes, of New Orleans, and one son Eric Elkins, of Ashdown, Arkansas, six grandchild­ren, Kaitlen Schultheis and Andy, Cody Richardson, Korey Richardson and Heather, Bryan Elkins, Jamiane Hughes, and Amy Elkins, three greatgrand­children, Carver, Cash and Will Schultheis, two sisters-in-law, a number of nieces and nephews and a circle of extended family and friends too numerous to count. Ralph was an avid sports fan and hunter. He enjoyed telling stories of the past to anyone who would listen as he never met a stranger. He was always ready to help out a friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie on Friday, May 29 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A second Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Madden Funeral Home, 371 N. 3rd St. in Ashdown, AR from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm with the Visitation the following day from 9:00 am until Funeral Services at 10:00 am. Burial in Arden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Wounded Warriors, www. woundedwar­riorprojec­t. org/ Donate, may be made.
