Seventh-grader says Texarkana is ‘quite the brilliant experience’

- By Kaylin Richardson, Pleasant Grove Middle School seventh-grader

The aspects that make up a society do not simply begin with the social assets, but extend to the cultural and architectural assets, as well. Thankfully, Texarkana exhibits more than one of these stunning attractions.

The town itself is quite the brilliant experience. From the gorgeous homes and parks, to more serious things, like courthouses, Texarkana is truly unique.

Texarkana has always been known as the Twin Cities, because the town is split. One half belongs to Arkansas; the other half belongs to Texas. Regardless of which side you decide to visit, the advantages that this town owns are many. To start, Texarkana has many splendid houses for the visitors’ viewing. One of my personal favorites is indeed the Ace of Clubs House. The roof of the one-of-a-kind house is shaped like a club. The estate itself is a wonderful addition to the town. Another beautiful house is the Mansion on Main. Both of these alluring properties can be seen by passing through downtown Texarkana.

In addition, Texarkana also has some very exquisite parks. The most popular parks would have to be the very appealing Spring Lake and Bringle Lake parks. Spring Lake Park is a well-known favorite; Bringle Lake Park was recently renovated, but is still a hit in the community. Both parks are heavily occupied by young children, and both are a very delightful retreat for anyone who wishes to relax.

The federal building, located downtown, is also a must-see. Besides the fact that it contains the post office and courthouse, it’s also located right along the divide that separates the Texas and Arkansas sides of Texarkana. It isn’t a completely serious building, though. Since it is half in Texas and half in Arkansas, it provides a great picture opportunity. You could be half in Texas and half in Arkansas at once!

Overall, everyone can agree that Texarkana is a gorgeous city. No matter what you do during your stay, you are sure to enjoy it. Texarkana will always be the top twin city and the prime location for any citizen.
