- By Emily Sanders

Minton’s Sportsplex offers intense, fun programs for kids and teens during summer months, including conditioning camps and play-care, in which students can participate in a wide variety of summer sports, including swimming, according to Amy Cornish, advertising sales representative.

“Our after-school care program turns into an all-day program during the summer months,” Cornish said. “We keep the kids all day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Area coaches will also come in and do different sports camps with the kids.”

Cornish said kids will also be able to swim every day that weather permits. In addition to swimming or swim lessons, kids ages 5-12 can participate in soccer, softball, volleyball, golf, cheer, basketball, fitness, nutrition and water safety. Family membership is included in the summer care program, and half-day programs are available, according to Cornish. Minton’s will provide breakfast, lunch and a snack.

For the student athlete, teens ages 13-16 or kids ages 8-12 can take part in Minton’s explosive, conditioning summer camp, a highly intense six-week program that focuses on essential skills required for student athletes to succeed during the coming school year for just $83 per week, Cornish said.

Summer camp dates are June 8 through July 17, and camps will be instructed by two of the area’s best high school coaches and Sportsplex Members: LibertyEylau’s very own Alex Harris and Brandon Rollins.

Harris’ expertise involves football, power lifting and soccer, while Rollins will provide insight with experience as a basketball, football and boys and girls strength coach.

“We want to positively influence your athlete’s behavior and decision-making process regarding dedication, work ethic and attitude,” Cornish said, adding that Sportsplex athlete members will help motivate, encourage and share experiences with student athletes.
