16-3A SOFTBALL
Ashley Belote took home MVP honors for Queen City, and teammate Maci Stringer was selected Defensive MVP in District 16-3A softball. Offensive MVP honors went to Hughes Springs’ Breanne Gunn. Mount Vernon’s Jamie Seawright earned Pitcher of the Year. Freshman Peyton Hawkins of Paul Pewitt was named Newcomer of the Year.
Mount Vernon had five players, Davannah Young at catcher, Kierra Morris at third, Holly Hemmingsen in the outfield, Madison Whitfield at utility, and Joycelyn Tidwell a designated hitter, selected to the first team line-up. Hughes Springs pitcher Kaityln Morris, second baseman Haylee Wilson, shortstop Chloe Hicks, and outfielder Peyton Blythe were selected to the first team. First baseman Shelby Kennedy and outfielder Alyssa Wiley were selected for Queen City. Dangerfield’s outfielder Jamia Edwards and designated hitter My’Asha Buford also made the first team. Paul Pewitt’s outfielder Caitlyn Anderson earned first-team honors.
