LANDRETH, Jimmie. New Boston, Texas. Died Wednesday. Graveside services 3 p.m. Spring Hill Cemetery.

Willodean Ruth Jones Meek of Texarkana, Texas, formerly of Denison, Texas, passed away on September 17, 2016. Mrs. Meek was born on July 21, 1923, in Emerson, Arkansas to Titus Borden Jones and Francis Emma Harvey Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of Northwood Presbyteri­an Church of Texarkana, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert Meek with whom she enjoyed a marriage of travel and adventure due to his Air Force career. She was a talented seamstress and an avid bridge player and teacher. She was very active in Military Family Services and received many commendati­ons for her hours of service. She helped form the “Retired Military Wives Club” in Denison, Texas, and was very active in The Hyde Park Presbyteri­an Church there.

She was a loving mother, grandmothe­r and great-grandmothe­r. Mrs. Meek is survived by her 2 daughters and son-inlaws, Karolyn and Wayne Poe of Texarkana, Texas, and Kathleen Neal and John Haffner of Jalisco, Mexico, and 3 grandsons, Jamie Magar of Lubbock, Texas, Bryan and Leah Poe of Texarkana, Texas and Robert and Amy Poe of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and 4 great-grandchild­ren.

The Meek family will have a private service at a later date in Shongaloo, LA.

Cremation arrangemen­ts are under the direction of East Funeral Home - Moores Lane.
