Davonta Vaughn also had an interception. COACH STEVE WELLS’ COMMENTS:

“Getting a win was a huge confidence booster, especially going into this twoweek break. We’ve got a lot to work on. We didn’t start off well; special teams really hurt us. We get a punt blocked right off and give them an easy score. We catch the kickoff and fumble it right back to them, giving them field position inside the 10. They’re up 14-0 quickly. We’ve got to shore up some things and understand ball security is big.

“This week we’re going to spend a lot of time on our special teams, which we have been, and get ready for our district opener with Paris. After we were down two scores, I was really proud of our kids because they didn’t panic. We did some good things offensively and defensively. They fought back in the second half and cut it to three, and then our kids bowed up again and did a good job of making some crucial drives. One thing I can say about this bunch is that they don’t quit.”
