THS’ Likins takes silver

LINDALE, Texas—Texas High's Owen Likins finished second with a 17:03.92 at the Lindale cross country meet.

Will Harrell was 17th with a 18:21.63, and the Tigers' varsity took seventh place as a team with 231 points.

Anna Cree was the top finisher for Texas High's girls varsity as she finished in 22:52.74 for 14th place. The Lady Tigers took home ninth place with 239 points.

Hannah Rollins finished the girls' 2-mile run in 18:14.91.

Jonathan Green was 20th with a 20:43.86 in the junior varsity run, and the Tigers finished 11th with 338 points.

FOOTBALL

Rabbs’ 9th shuts out Pirates

ATLANTA, Texas—Atlanta fiercely fought off its visitor, the Pittsburg Pirates in a 38-0 win.

Cade Wood scored a touchdown after running the ball in from 25 yards out on a reverse, Max Ebarb had a 4-yard plunge into the end zone, and Drae Nelson caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Ebarb.

Romero Williams ran in two PATs, and Ebarb threw two extra-point conversion passes; one to Cade Fant, and the other to Terrance Thomas.

Cameron Carney had one intercepti­on, JJ Fields had two. Fields ran one back for a touchdown, and Fant had an intercepti­on for a TD. Wood forced a fumble, and Jared Cowgill recovered a fumble.

Other defensive standouts for the night included Jacobi Dickerson, DeGregory King, and Marquvious White. Offensive standouts were Clayton Primrose, Jay Joslin, and Davion Collins.

L-E JV, frosh prevail

Talveyon Cooper led LibertyEyl­au with three touchdown passes, a two-yard TD run, and a two-point conversion run as the Leopards' junior varsity beat Paris, 35-21, at Harris Field.

Ralph Crabtree started the Leopards off with a 70-yard run into the end zone. Deshaun Dickerson caught a 14-yard TD pass from quarterbac­k Talveyon Cooper. Daz Cooper hooked up from long-distance with Talveyon Cooper for a 63-yard touchdown pass. Kelston Joseph was also thrown a line from Talveyon Cooper, an 8-yard TD pass.

Jose Aguilar kicked all the extra points for L-E, only missing one on the night.

Aguilar scooped up a fumble recovery, Talveyon Cooper snatched a pass out of the air for an intercepti­on. Additional defensive standouts for the Leopards were Marzavion Riles and Demetry Hunter.

Liberty Eylau's 9th grade team defeated Paris, 36-21.

The Leopards were led by Shannon Roy who piled up three TD runs, a two-point conversion run, and threw a PAT pass. Korbyn White and Trey Revels both helped Roy lead their team to victory by adding two TD runs each.

L-E's victory came in large part because of an outstandin­g offensive line made up of Reggie Woodside, Caron Eaton, Dearris Ross, Torrian Trotter, Daniel Hooser, and Trustin Jones. The defense as a whole played really well, only allowing the Pirates to score 21.

The Leopards' 9th grade team record rose to 2-4 for the season and 1-0 in district. Liberty-Eylau plays at North Lamar Thursday.

Tiger JV fall

SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas—Dashaveon Burks threw a 45-yard strike to Mason Jones, but the Texas High junior varsity was unable to overcome Sulphur Springs, 14-7.

Marc Jaramillo booted the extra point, and Kendal Reid was also an offensive standout. The THS defense was also highlighte­d for their play.

Gilmer bests PG

GILMER, Texas—Brett Walker had 12 receptions and an intercepti­on for Pleasant Grove's junior varsity, but the Hawks fell to Gilmer, 36-22.

Riley Birmingham had a 1-yard run, and Dillion Williams legged in the PAT for PG. Birmingham also connected with Williams on a 27-yard touchdown pass with three seconds remaining in the half.

The Hawks' Hunter O'Keefe returned a 35-yard intercepti­on for a TD. Williams connected with Zack Partin for the 2-point conversion.

Gilmer ended the game with two more touchdowns in the 4th quarter to edge out the Hawks.

Dylan Hopkins had three touchdown passes, connecting two with Sergio Rodriguez and the other to Antonio Watkins for Pleasant Grove's 9th grade, but the Hawks fell to Gilmer, 30-27. Bruce Garrertt ran in the last score for PG.

Pleasant Grove hosts Atlanta Thursday.

Tigers blank SS

Rian Cellers ran for two scores and caught a third, and Texas Middle School's 8th grade A's defense shut out Sulphur Springs, 32-0.

Cellers had scoring runs of 60 and 13 yards and hauled in a 64-yard TD from Jackson Halter. R'Keavius Morrison also had a 13-yard score, and Cahari Weekly returned a fumble for a score.

The entire defense was praised for the shutout, improving to a 2-1 record.

The Tigers' 8th grade B team won 18-8 to improve to 3-0. Equan Cross had a 20-yard TD run, Roderick Henson ran 25 yards and Russell Nance added a 50-yard jaunt.

Redwater JV tops Sabine

GLADEWATER, Texas— Garrett Johnson and Lawson McBain had a 12-yard touchdown run each as Redwater's junior varsity defeated Gladewater Sabine, 24-16.

Dalton Graf powered in from 3 yards out for a TD and ran in a 2-point PAT for the Dragons, while teammate Nick Fernandez contribute­d two PAT runs.

Gage Stivers had a 45-yard run and Redwater's 8th grade defeated the Cardinals, 16-8. Rolan Smith had a 15-yard run, and Preston Davis had two 2-point runs for the Dragons.

Sabine won the 7th grade game, 8-0.

John Collier was a defensive standout, Isaac Huckaby had one intercepti­on, and Carson Bowman made one intercepti­on for Redwater.

The Dragons' 8th is 4-0 and the 7th grade is 2-2. Redwater hosts New Boston Thursday.

Panthers split

SMACKOVER, Ark.—Jayden Pittman rushed for over 100 yards and had a pair of TD runs to help Fouke's 7th grade beat Smackover, 22-14.

Phenix Thomas added a 2-yard TD run, and Destin Wallace and Jessie Bottoms had 2-pointers.

The Panthers lost the junior high game, 14-12. Nick Cowart caught a 10-yard TD from Hunter Lansdale, and Dillon Richardson bulled in from the 3 in the fourth quarter. The 2-point conversion, which would've tied the game, failed. Chance Crabtree had an intercepti­on for Fouke's defense.

Queen City JH beats New Diana

DIANA, Texas—Queen City beat New Diana in both the 7th grade game, 48-6, and 8th grade game, 30-8.

Both of the Bulldogs' records ascend to 4-0.

The Eagles won the junior varsity game, 19-12. Trey Clayton scored two rushing touchdowns for the Bulldogs, Dylan Scott intercepte­d a pass and Zhordan Banks recovered a fumble.

TENNIS

THS JV defeats Hogs

Texas High's junior varsity tennis team defeated Arkansas High, 13-9, at Texas High.

The junior varsity's next action will be at home against Longview Thursday.
