THS theatre program headed to regional play competitio­n

Texas High School’s Tiger Theatre Company has advanced to the 5A Region 2 Area 2 UIL One-Act Play competitio­n after winning top awards during district and bi-district competitio­ns for their production of “The Axeman’s Requiem.”

District awards included:

First Place Overall Rating for Cast Performanc­e; Gabe Lohse, Best Actor; London Edwards, Best Actress; Bree Barnett, All-Star Cast Honorable Mention; and Madison Sutton, Outstandin­g Technical Award.

Bi-district awards included: Play Advancing; London Edwards, All-Star Cast; Brennon Cope and Victoria Perez, Honorable Mention AllStar Cast; Robin Cooper, Nadia Fryer, Katie Dusek, Jonathan Rowland, Madison Sutton, Honorable Mention All-Star Cast for Ensemble – Technical Crew; and Robin Cooper, Outstandin­g Technical Award.

The 5A Region 2, Area UIL One-Act Play contest will be held Saturday 1 at Plano West Senior High School in Plano, Texas. Performanc­es begin at noon, with Texas High School scheduled at 3 p.m.

The One-Act Play cast and crew members include Paisley Allen, Bree Barnett, Elicia Bilyeu, Mikenzie Blase, Robin Cooper, Brennon Cope, Katie Dusek, London Edwards, Nadia Fryer, Steven Geiger, Kaitlyn Gordon, Grace Hickey, Mason Higginboth­am, Colton Johnson, Gabe Lohse, Drew Martindale, Kaitlyn McKinley, Kayleigh Moreland, Victoria Perez, Jonathan Rowland, Linda Sanchez, Sam Sanchez, Shelby Steele and Madison Sutton.

The Texas High UIL OneAct Play is directed by Lisa Newton, Trent Hanna and Amy Kemp. UIL Coordinato­r is Chuck Zach.
