TC Foundation lands grant for class equipment

The Texarkana College Foundation received $20,000 Monday from the Arconic Foundation to purchase equipment for the school’s Science, Technology, Engineerin­g and Math department. Through a partnershi­p with Arconic, TC will purchase two Sosmo anatomy models, allowing the school to offer more sections of high-demand anatomy and physiology courses. A stateof- art Fisher Scientific Compound Digital microscope will also be purchased.

“The donation of cutting-technology will make a big impact on our students,” Dr. Catherine Howard, dean of STEM, stated in a press release. “We are so thankful for industry partners like Arconic that help us upgrade our pro---

grams so that our graduates are trained and ready when they enter the workforce. ”

Katie Andrus, executive director of the TC Foundation, said this is the second year in a row that Arconic has made a grant to TC for upgrading the college’s technical training equipment.

“Strong community partnershi­ps are so important to maintainin­g TC’s high standards for workforce and career training,” Andrus said.

The primary goal of Arconic Foundation is to advance STEM education and training worldwide, with a special emphasis on engaging and creating access for underrepre­sented and underserve­d groups. The Arconic Foundation is an independen­tly endowed foundation with assets of approximat­ely $320 million and is the charitable arm of Arconic Inc.
