Man, 31, arrested after brief standoff
Gregory faces charges of aggravated assault and domestic battery
A man was arrested after a brief standoff Thursday at a Texarkana, Ark., home.
Brandon Gregory, 31, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and second-degree domestic battery, said Officer Kristi Bennett, Texarkana, Ark., Police Department spokeswoman.
Police received a 911 call at 11:30 a.m. Thursday about a female involved in a domestic dispute with her boyfriend at a residence in the 1800 block of Pearl Street. The caller reported the female had suffered serious injuries and the alleged suspect had a firearm. Officers arrived and were unable to make contact with the female or the suspect. Based on the actions of individuals inside the residence at the time of officers’ arrival, SWAT was called to the scene. After several attempts, police were able to speak with Gregory by phone, and he came out voluntarily after negotiations with the TAPD Hostage Negotiation Team. Police also arrested Matt Williams, 30, who was inside the residence, on unrelated warrants. While questioning Gregory and Williams, officers were notified by Wadley Regional Medical Center that a female came in the emergency room with injuries indicating assault. Detectives went to the hospital and confirmed she was the Pearl Street victim. Gregory was recently released on parole from ADC stemming from a 2011 conviction of kidnapping and battery with a sentence of 13 years.
