Hughes Springs beats Arp, 23-22

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Hughes Springs won a 1-point thriller over Arp, 23-22.

The Mustangs took and 8-0 lead into halftime, but it would be short lived. The Tigers outscored the Mustangs 21-6 in the third quarter and took a 21-14 lead into the fourth quarter.

Isaiah Bolden scored a 1-yard touchdown, followed by a 2-point conversion with 4:20 to pull out a 1-point victory.

The Mustangs were led by Andrew Gauf with 140 yards passing and two touchdowns in a solid performanc­e as he hit on 5 of 7 passes. Teammate Isaiah Bolden led in rushing with 60 yards on 21 carries and grabbed 2 passes for 30 yards.

Chandler King had 218 yards and a TD for Arp in a losing effort.

Hooks 20, Redwater 19

HOOKS, Texas—Redwater came out strong in the first half, but it was Hooks that adjusted at halftime to sneak away with a win.

Dragons' LaVandrick Vaughn and Payton Davis combined for three touchdowns in the first two quarters, giving Redwater a 19-0 lead.

Hooks, however, answered back in the third when Phillip Dickerson sprinted past the defense to score on a 74-yard run.

Quarterbac­k Connor Price found Carlos Duncan on a 7-yard pass, and Dickerson sealed the deal with 5:04 remaining in the fourth with a 10-yard rushing touchdown to give the Hornets the one-point victory.

Hooks (2-0) will be on the road next week when it travels to Mount Vernon, and Redwater (0-2) will play host to Harleton.

Linden-Kildare 21, Clarksvill­e 7

CLARKSVILL­E, Texas—After going into halftime tied, it was all LindenKild­are in the second half as the Tigers scored 14 in the third quarter en route to a victory over Clarksvill­e.

Linden-Kildare struck first when quarterbac­k Marty Johnson found Ja'Kevian Rose on a three-yard pass in the first quarter.

Clarksvill­e also found the end zone in the first quarter when Deonte' Tavie hit pay dirt on a two-yard run. Tavie finished the contest with 77 yards on 11 carries.

LaDavian Johnson rushed 22 times and raked in 135 yards, including a five-yard score in the third quarter that proved to be the game-winner. Later in the third quarter, Ty Patterson gave L-K an insurance score when he returned a 75-yard intercepti­on for a touchdown.

Next week, Linden-Kildare (2-0) will host Queen City, while Clarksvill­e (0-2) will travel to Big Sandy.

Atlanta 34, Daingerfie­ld 19

DAINGERFIE­LD, Texas—Andrew Samples accounted for four touchdowns, leading the Atlanta Rabbits to a win over Daingerfie­ld at Mickey Mayne Tiger Stadium.

Samples put the Rabbits on the board early in the first quarter with a 38-yard touchdown run, and Atlanta made it 8-0 with 10:24 to play with a two-point conversion.

Reggie Jeter answered for Daingerfie­ld with a 1-yard TD run five minutes later to cap a 10-play, 63-yard drive, and a two-pointer tied things at 8-8.

A fumble by the Tigers set up a short, 3-play, 23-yard drive by the Rabbits that was capped with Jovon King's 21-yard run for a 14-8 Atlanta lead with 8:52 left in the second quarter.

The Rabbits cashed in on another Tiger fumble four minutes later, this time with Samples tossing a 25-yard TD pass to Austin Brown to make it a 22-8 contest at the half.

Jeter's 33-yard run with 8:40 to play in the third set up a 27-yard field goal by Jose Bello to pull the Tigers to within 22-11, but Samples and Brown hooked up again on a 39-yard TD pass two minutes later as Atlanta stretched the lead to 28-11.

A 15-yard penalty on Atlanta and a 15-yard run by Jeter set up a Trodarius Lynn 12-yard scoring run as Daingerfie­ld made it a 28-19 contest with 25 seconds remaining in the third, but Samples' 2-yard run with 5:46 remaining in the contest sealed the deal for the Rabbits.

Daingerfie­ld (0-2) will host New Boston on Friday.

Joaquin 58, Maud 7

JOAQUIN, Texas—Maud's defense had a rough outing, as Joaquin running backs found the end zone eight times in its big victory.

Joaquin's Kase Yates rushed for 192 yards on 16 carries and Joseph Tarver eclipsed the 100-yard mark as well on just seven carries. Yates accounted for five touchdowns.

Maud's bright spot came in the third quarter when RJ Bailey returned a 79-yard kickoff for the Cardinals' only score. Bailey also caught two passes for 42 yards.

Running back Jordan Creutz finished with 85 yards on 18 carries.

Maud (0-2) will host DeKalb (2-0) next week.
