BASEBALL

Texas A&M Texarkana baseball is having a showcase for incoming freshman and second year junior college players on Oct. 7. There will be two sessions, one session is $65 and two sessions will be $80. First session is pitching second session is defense and offense. The pitching and catching sessions is from 9 a.m.-11, and the defense and offense session is from 11:45 a.m.-3.

The third annual midnight madness, the first official practice of the Texas A&M University­Texarkana Eagles baseball team for the 2017-18 season, is set for Sunday at George Dobson Field at Spring Lake Park. Gates open at 7 p.m. This year’s event will include a practice warm-up, a maroon-navy scrimmage, T-shirt and fan gear giveaways, music and more. The free event is open to the public.

FOOTBALL

Tickets for the Liberty-Eylau at Texas High football game on Sept. 15 will be on sale Sept. 12-14. Tickets can be purchased in the Sullivan Performing Arts Center, 3941 Summerhill Road, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All tickets are reserved seating and cost $8. TISD Student game tickets—high school only— will be sold at the gate only for $3. Because of limited parking at Tiger Stadium at Grim Park, TISD will provide free shuttle bus service to fans. Shuttle buses will leave from the THS Student Parking lot at 4001 Summerhill Road beginning at 6 p.m. Seats will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.

SHOOTING SPORTS

Tickets are being sold for $25 in the Bowie County 4-H 52-gun drawing. Tickets will be sold for 13 more weeks and are available at D&D Guns in New Boston, Texas. You may also email Cherrie at cc-curtis@tamu.edu to find the closest 4-H member with tickets for sale.

SOFTBALL

Texas A&M University-Texarkana will host a youth softball hitting and fielding clinic Sunday, Sept. 24, at Bramlett Field at Spring Lake Park, 4303 North Park Road, Texarkana, Texas. There will be a free session using an 11-inch softball for youth ages 6-10 from 9 a.m.-11 and only 40 slots are available. The clinic for youth ages 10 to 8th grade using a 12-inch softball is set for 12-3 p.m. Cost is $45 and only 40 slots are available. Participan­ts must bring a bat, glove, cleats and a water bottle. RUNNING

The Amanda Fussell Woodman Memorial CASA Colorful 5k will be held on September 23 at the Trinity Baptist Church cross country track. GOLF

The 28th annual Opportunit­ies Inc. invitation­al golf tournament is Monday at Texarkana Country Club. Opportunit­ies Inc. welcomes Brian Pavlet, a former world long drive champion. Pavlet will hold an exhibition at 10 a.m.
