Avery’s volleyball team takes down Liberty-Eylau

AVERY, Texas—Avery's varsity volleyball team took down Liberty-Eylau, 25-18, 25-19, 23-25, 25-12, on Friday.

Cassidy Kelsoe led the Lady Bulldogs, with 12 points, six aces, 19 assists and three kills. Teammates Jill Whitney added 11 points and 12 kills, while Alexis Coughran had nine points and 10 kills.

Liberty-Eylau won the junior varsity contest, 25-20, 23-20.

Jordan Childress had six service points for the Lady

Leopards.

Lady Hornets best DeKalb

HOOKS, Texas—Hooks defeated DeKalb in a varsity volleyball contest Friday, 25-20, 25-16, 15-25, 25-17.

Lady Hornets' Kynli Holder had 13 kills and nine points, and Carrie Almond had four aces in the win.

FOOTBALL

OVERTON, Texas—James Bowie defeated Overton on the road, 46-22.

Senior Bailey Obenoskey rushed for 198 yards on 20 carries and four touchdowns for the Pirates.

Evan Barron rushed for 165 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns for James Bowie.

Dakota Grant toted the rock nine times for 62 yards for the Pirates.

James Bowie finished the rout with 420 yards of offense.

The Pirates' defense intercepte­d two passes and recovered a fumble.

James Bowie committed no turnovers offensivel­y.

The Pirates are back in action on

Sept. 22, traveling to Maud.

James Bowie is 1-0 overall.
