Seminar will cover knee replacements
CHRISTUS St. Michael Center for Joint Replacement is having a free community luncheon seminar Total Knee Replacement: The Latest Technology later this month.
The free seminar starts at noon Sept. 22 in the North Conference Center of the hospital, 2600 St. Michael Drive, Texarkana, Texas. A light meal will be served.
Dr. Greg Smolarz, orthopedic surgeon and medical director of the joint replacement center, will present information about surgical and nonsurgical treatment options for knee joint pain. He will also talk about Mako Robotic-Arm assisted total knee replacement.
Stryker’s Mako System can be used across the joint replacement service line to perform total knee, total hip and partial knee replacements.
“Seminar participants will learn how specially trained surgeons are able to precisely target only the diseased portion of the knee utilizing the Texarkana region’s only Rio Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic System,” said Francine Francis, CHRISTUS St. Michael communications director. “In addition, the surgeon will share information about how this latest advancement transforms the way total knee replacements are performed. The robotic arm-assisted technology allows surgeons to provide each patient with a personalized surgical experience based on his/her specific diagnosis and anatomy.”
The program is free, but seating is limited and reservations are required. To register, call 1-855-614-6453 or visit christusstmichael.org/ totalknee.
