Curley Wolves, Bobcats set for contest
HOPE, Ark.—The unblemished Prescott Curley Wolves travel to Hope tonight to square off with the Bobcats in a pivotal non-conference contest.
“It should be a great game,” Prescott head football coach Tommy Poole said. “Hope has played two good opponents, so it's hard to gauge where they're at on the film. We're making strides to get better each week.”
Last year, the Curley Wolves defeated Hope at home, 48-28. Prescott has won seven out of the past 10 games against the Bobcats.
Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at
Hammons Stadium.
“We're going to have to play real well to stay in the game with them,” Hope head football coach Jay Turley said. “We haven't played very well the first few games, so we're looking to improve this week.” Prescott senior Thomas Muldrew torched Camden Harmony Grove on the ground last week. Muldrew rushed 12 times for 139 yards and three touchdowns in the 21-point rout.
“I feel like each week, we're going to get better,” Poole said. “Our players that we have are making plays for us and that's what we ask of them. Our entire defensive unit has played really well as of late.”
The Curley Wolves stingy defense have only given up 26 points in 2017.
“Our goal is to get better by conference play and that starts next week,” Turley said. “Prescott is a talented team we could get better against. We're young and inexperienced, so we need game experience more than anything.”
“I think our defense stepped up against Ashdown, so we need to continue to focus on our run game.”
The Bobcats have scored 27 points this season, while giving up 106 in two games.
Prescott and Hope are only separated by 16 miles, which gives this game a closer to home rivalry feel.
