NEW BOSTON, Texas—It looks like the Bowie Central Appraisal District will get to resell some tax delinquent property to potential owners who might be able to pay property taxes on it.

Bowie County commissioners agreed Monday to approve the district’s resale of at least five pieces of real estate—three in Texarkana and two in Hooks. The three pieces on the Texasside are collectively worth $6,500, and the two in Hooks are worth $2,800.

Commissioners also canvassed and certified the votes cast in the Nov. 7 election, which showed that 2,850 county voters participated.

The city of Red Lick will have some new city council aldermen. They include resident Mark Patterson, who defeated incumbent Wendell Boozer for Alderman Place 2, with 58 votes to 44 votes.

The uncontested race results show former Red Lick Mayor Sheila Kegley becoming mayor again along with former Red Lick Mayor Michael Peek taking the uncontested Alderman Place 4 position; and Red Lick resident Joe Williams taking the uncontested Alderman Place 5 position. Incumbent Place 1 Alderman Lila Murray kept her seat, defeating challenger Sandra Hartline 49 to 42.

In other business, commissioners agreed to have the county continue to participate in applying annually for some Texas State indigent Defense Grant funding.
