PECAN PIE CAKE

Jerline Davis, Mineral Springs, Ark.

1 box butter pecan or butter cake mix

1 cup butter, softened, split evenly in halves

1 cup brown sugar, lightly packed

4 eggs

2 Tbsp. water

2 cups chopped pecans

1 cup sugar

1 cup light corn syrup

Directions: Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease a 13x9 inch baking pan. Measure out 2/3 cup of cake mix and set aside. Place remaining cake mix in a bowl with 1/2 cup butter, 2 eggs, brown sugar and water. Mix well with electric mixer. Fold in pecans and pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes. Five minutes before end of baking, mix 1/2 cup butter, 2 eggs, sugar, corn syrup, and leftover cake mix. Remove pan from oven and pour second batter on top. Return pan to oven and bake another 30-35 minutes.
