SITE, TIME: Gerald Prim Stadium,Sulphur Springs, 7:30 p.m.

AT STAKE: Class 3A, Division II bi-district championship. GAME FACTS: Edgewood finished second in District 8-3A behind undefeated Harmony. Hooks was third in District 7-3A. The Hornets average 28.6 points per game and give up 28.7 points each contest. The Bulldogs have put up 42.4 average points per game and have given up 27.1 points on average.

COACH’S COMMENTS: Hooks’ Chris Birdwell—“Edgewood has a good offense. They have a fundamental defense and are a disciplined team. Their quarterback and running back have put up big numbers. Offensively, we will need to block well up front. If the line does well, then we will always have a chance. We also need to avoid turnovers and penalties; if we do that then we will have a chance.

“Defensively, they do a good job of splitting your defense in half with their zone read, so everyone needs to take care of their job. Also we need to run to their running back and get a lot of blue helmets to the ball. It’s business like always, and we will prepare the same way we do for every game. The kid are excited to play in the playoffs. We have played some of our best football toward the end of the season. The kids have played hard to get into the playoffs and are upbeat, so I think they are ready to go.”

NEXT ROUND: The winner plays either Holiday or Cooper in the area round.
