- By Earl Gill

It was a battle of who could make the least mistakes.

Arkansas High’s varsity girls squad edged Magnolia on Tuesday night at Razorback Gym as time expired, 26-23.

The Lady Backs committed 13 turnovers during the course of the contest and Magnolia did not do much better with 12 turnovers.

The first quarter consisted mostly of missed shots and turnovers for both teams.

The first period ended with AHS edging the Lady Panthers, 6-3.

The Lady Backs picked up their offensive production in the second quarter.

Arkansas High senior Tierra Holliman knocked down two field goals to give the Lady Backs some cushion entering the locker rooms.

AHS edged the Lady Panthers, 13-8, at half.

Holliman finished her night with a team-high seven points.

Both teams upped their intensity at the beginning of the third period.

The active hands of the Lady Backs caused them to get in a bit of foul trouble, which opened the door for scoring opportunities for the Lady Panthers at the charity stripe.

Magnolia gained their first lead of the game on a layup by Kayleigh Sneed with less than two minutes remaining in the third.

The third quarter ended in a draw with both squads at 20 points apiece.

Sneed continued to propel the Lady Panther offense through the final period. Sneed finished the contest with a game-high 12 points and seven rebounds.
