Occupation­al safety, medical courses slated

Texas A&M University-Texarkana will offer a Certified Occupation­al Safety Specialist program and courses in Electronic Health Records Management, Medical Billing and Coding and Ophthalmic Assistant/Optician training at the A&M-Texarkana campus.

The COSS program will be from Feb. 19 to 23 and consist of 40 hours of handson training designed to equip workers with the skills they need to succeed in occupation­al safety and health.

The cost of the program and materials will be $1,699.

The Electronic Health Records Management course is designed to prepare students to understand and use electronic records in a medical practice. The program will cost $1,999 and will meet 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 19 to June

21.

Medical Billing and Coding courses will teach students how to to solve insurance billing and coding problems.

The program will cost $1,899 and will meet 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays from March 19 to June

11.

Ophthalmic Assistant/Optician training courses will prepare students with the skills needed to perform ophthalmic procedures in the office of an ophthalmol­ogist or optometris­t.

The program will cost $2,025 and will meet 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. from March 20 to June 19.
